SKEA awarded grant
for children’s programs

The Kona Brewers’ Festival awarded $5,800 to the Society for Kona’s Education and Art. The grant is funding the organization’s “Imaginaction” arts immersion field trips and its summer art camp.

In April, SKEA hosted students from Hookena School for activities centered on this year’s Imaginaction theme of “going green.” The children made collages from old circuit boards and other discarded items. They also participated in a creative dance using costumes and props made from “trash.”

SKEA’s summer art camp is open to children ages 6 through 11. It is planned from June 12 to 14 and 18 to 22. Circus arts is the camp’s theme. SKEA is located on Mamalahoa Highway in Honaunau. For more information, call 328-9392 or visit skea.org.

The Kona Brewers’ Festival is held each March for the benefit of local charities. For more information, visit konabrewersfestival.com.
